We got 440 000 more litres of milk than last year with the same number of cows and we minimized our cow losses. Last season we lost 12 this year we only lost one.
The Doc Taylor® partnership with Ruminate is awesome. Once a month we catch up down the farm and we work out what the grass is doing and then we work out a plan to meet our production targets.
We brought into the Doc Taylor process because it was specific to us and tailored to suit the needs of our farm. Ruminate designed the feed around what we already had on farm, being the May silage pasture and some palm kernel. We put all that together to formulate the perfect diet to fit the budget and balance performance for our targets for our cows.
The cows are completely different animals now. They're happier, they're more content, they're brighter in the eye.
Production has increased phenomenally we've produced more milk at a lower mortality rate and we've been able to condense our calving into six weeks. Our calf rate last year was a bit spread out, and we've been able to do that without any intervention.
At the end of the day, Ruminate want what’s best for the herd and for you. I'm proud of what we've achieved and what we're doing on farm in fact this coming season is the one i've been most excited about in 20 years of farming.
